As I watched the final few moments of Rogue One and realized that this was where Cassian Andor's journey came to a definitive end, I felt, along with a touch of sadness a connection with the Star Wars universe that I had never felt before.

Star Wars is a phenomenon that never really caught my attention much over the years. I've geeked out over other franchises in my younger days but the galaxy far far away never drew me in. Consequently most of my exposure to Star Wars was a handful of movies whose marketing I could not escape. So I accompanied my friends to a few of them. But I forgot all about them as soon as I left the theater.

I recently finished watching both seasons of Andor and capped it off by watching the Rogue One movie that I now realize was set immediately after the events of Andor.

What I loved about Andor was how at the end it was a deeply human story at it's core with the Star Wars universe as the backdrop more than anything else. It asks important questions about both individual motivations for rebellions and the incredible sacrifices one makes to continue furthering the cause.

Sometimes the journey can end up taking so long that you forget what was the original reason why you may have decided to rebel in the first place. Not focusing just on the main protagonist but showing multiple perspectives of it's wonderfully diverse casts of characters really turned it into something unforgettable for me.

There is a vast amount of Star Wars related entertainment that I need to catch up on but Andor was the final hook that I needed to reel me into the galaxy far far away.
